About our club
We have a project established for the extension and upgrading of our recreational facilities that are used to encourage youth - boys and girls to get involved with sport from across our local area. This facility will also enable us to support greater recreational and social programmes across our community. This development will be done in two phases - first phase is to provide additional changing rooms for the youth teams that are accessible to all and includes upgraded Physio and gym facilities. The cost for this has been broken down into 2 budgets. Initial budget is for design & planning with a cost of £50k (includes planning submission fees, reports and design team costs) and 2nd budget is for the 1st phase of the build - £500k ( match funding to go alongside SRU and Sport Scotland funding) which totals £1m. We are asking Persimmon to fund the initial budget of £50k to enable us to get the project underway.
The community rugby club has a long and successful track record of developing youth sports in our community, with a thriving youth - boys and girls section. Our facilities are now under extreme pressure and are no longer fit for purpose. The limiting factor remains our facilities and this continues to constrain our ability to expand our activities and reach into the community. This includes include both physical and pastoral programmes which have shown themselves to be hugely beneficial to the young people in our community.
Our rugby club is established as a pillar of the community provide recreational and public amenities used by all age groups with strong links to our local schools and educational development. Our development will enable us to extend our programmes to a wider youth population through sport.
We are increasingly encouraging our staff and volunteers to develop their qualifications and create training programmes for recognition and understanding of disabilities including neurodiverse capabilities, enabling us to be more diverse and inclusive with community we serve.
Through our schools outreach programme we are working with families that are less able to support and fund sports activities for their children.
The facilities or lack off are now critical. the development of the clubhouse is now a blocker for our long-term strategy for development of the trusts activities and its delivery through the club and its staff/volunteers. We feel that without this barrier being overcome, we will lose the established momentum and support we have amongst the families, community, club members and players.
